Who We Are

Our Team

The Sustainability Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our volunteer Board of Directors organizes, directs, and performs all activities through a committee structure including an executive committee and various action oriented sub-committees. The Board of Directors is assisted by the Advisory Board, and by volunteers from the community, various interns, and partner organizations.

Our Commitment

A healthy environment, a just society, and a vital economy are the essential elements of sustainable communities. We believe everyone can help create a more sustainable future. We call on individuals and communities to take part in the process of improving our local resilience and self-sufficiency as we adapt to changes in energy supply and climate.

Our Mission

The Sustainability Project exists to inspire change in the built environment of our region in order to improve the quality of life, in harmony with nature, for this and future generations.

What We Do

We work for change in the following areas:

  1. Educational Programs: we create and organize educationalprograms for professionals and the general public.
  2. Research: we adapt and develop principles of sustainabilityas a guide for the future of our region.
  3. Public Dialogue: we facilitate open dialogue aboutenvironmental responsibility, social equity, and economic opportunity.
  4. Sustainable Options: we promote environmentallyresponsible designs and materials, prototype projects, and sustainablecommunity ad general plans and local regulations.
  5. Service & Networking: we form partnerships withcitizens, educational institutions, businesses, nonprofit organizations,and state and local governments to help people and local communitiesmake more informed decisions about our future.
